SANCTUARY YOUTH

From a youth work perspective we are in a very privileged place.
Being based in a high school creates endless amounts of opportunities to meet and connect with young people. We can reach them on a number of different levels in a number of different ways and run activities that other organisations and churches aren’t able to because of our place within the school.

Open Mondays, Tuesday and Wednesday lunchtimes to pupils from the school who wish to come bring lunch, relax and have a drink.

Comfortable with up to 50 people, we aim to be a safe place where young people can socialise.
We have all the usual Sanctuary facilities at our disposal, the built in projecter, the bar and drinks area, the air hockey, fun volunteers, and of course the very comfy sofas!

Friday Night Sanctuary has been running in some form for years, and curreantly has an average of 50 – 60 young people attending on a Friday night.

Friday night Sanctuary is a space created specifically for young people to come and just ‘be’, it is a place where they can come with friends and relax in an informal setting where it is clean and safe.

All the members of the Sanctuary team are CRB checked and have completed The Salvation Army’s child protection training ‘Safe&Sound’.
Every so often there will be things planned for the night e.g. a basketball tournament, a disco and recently the young people painted a staff members car!

The night is open for any young person that is in year 7 and above.
